For Your Information... Circle of Willis

This question was taken from the February 2013 London exam.

Candidates were asked to identify structures on a cerebral angiogram.


The Circle of Willis is the circulatory system that supplies blood to the brain and the surrounding structures. The Basilar artery and the Middle Cerebral arteries are not considered part of the circle.

The 2 Vertebral arteries arise from the subclavian arteries.

Becoming familiar with this image is very important in identifying all the appropriate vessels.
